Belmont (CA) Fire Truck 13 Tiller Ride

A Tiller-Truck, also known as a tractor drawn aerial or a hook-and-ladder truck (pictured below), is a specialized turntable ladder mounted on a semi-trailer truck with separate steering wheels and drivers for the front and rear wheels.

Now you can experience an awesome virtual ride along with Belmont (CA) Fire Department Tiller Truck 13's "Tillercam" as they respond to an injury vehicle accident.

From the point of view of the rear engine driver where the cam is mounted, Tillercam takes you on a near 7-minute ride from dispatch to arrival on scene. What makes it just that more exciting is the comms between the front and rear drivers that us scannerheads would never hear over the air - really cool stuff!
On a Side Note: While we are on the subject of Tiller Trucks, check out this news article (complete with videos and photos) that I came across involving a Tiller Truck rollover in August of this year in Raleigh, NC - WHOA!!:

Well, that's it for now - enjoy! Please subscribe to my blog and let me know what you think about this post in the comments. Till next time...stay safe and happy scanning!
